Join us for an afternoon of pastel drawing with acoustic sounds from local indie folk singer-songwriter Chinyi C. Born in Singapore and now based in Toronto, Chinyi's music explores the emotional complexities of identity, belonging, transition, and growth. This workshop is an invitation for all creatives of any skill set to visualize memory through musical inspiration.
Supplies will be provided and drawings are self-guided for your own collection.
Born in Singapore and now based in Toronto, Chinyi navigates the complexities of the Southeast Asian diaspora and her Singaporean-Chinese, Cantonese-Hokkien roots through her music. Her songs blend the struggle of identity with the longing for community and belonging. Combining pure vocals with introspective songwriting, her songs evoke whispered conversations in the time between dusk and dawn, memories of childhood homes, and half-spoken dreams, centering on the search for human connection. Chinyi’s latest single, Human (2024), showcases her artistry through introspective storytelling and layered chamber-pop instrumentation, a reminder that we are shaped by the people we meet and the communities around us.
